Your quick guide to the best sports bars in Chiang Rai

If you can’t be bothered to read everything and just want to know which sports bar in Chiang Rai is the best, get yourself to Steve’s Bar. If you want to know why it’s the best place to watch live sport in Chiang Rai you’ll have to read on.

The Two Best Bars to Watch Sport in Chiang Rai

There are quite a few small bars with TVs that occasionally show sport, but if you take your sport watching seriously you need to get yourself to one of these two sports bars.

Steve’s Bar – My favourite sports bar in Chiang Rai

Also known as Hangover Corner, Steve’s Bar is the best place in town to watch live sport.

It’s only a small bar, but it always has a great atmosphere. Even though it’s small, there are loads of TVs and they can put on anything you want! English Football, Aussie Rules, NRL, F1, rugby and anything else you can think of is available at this sports bar in Chiang Rai.

If you’re looking for the best sports bar in Chiang Rai to watch the Rugby Six Nations, this is my recommendation.

It’s a biker bar for the local club, but don’t let that put you off, it still has a fun and friendly atmosphere. And who knows, if your confidence has grown on two wheels after renting a scooter in town, maybe you can become the newest member of the gang.

Steve’s Bar is open from 13:00 to 01:00 every day of the week.

Here’s where you’ll find this sports bar in Chiang Rai.

O’Kane’s Irish Pub – The best Guinness in town

Next up on my list of the best places in Chiang Rai to watch sport is O’Kane’s Irish Pub.

This is one of the most popular bars in the city, and that’s not only because it serves the best Guinness for miles

If you’re feeling homesick and need some comfort food, O’Kane’s is the place to go. The food menu has classics like fish & chips and pie & mash. But if that feels like the last thing you want to eat while watching the match fear not, they have a great selection of Thai food too.

While O’Kane’s is primarily an Irish Pub, it can still be classed as a sports bar in Chiang Rai. That’s because there are two screens inside which show pretty much any sport you want. That seems to be the way of things in Chiang Rai, and most of Thailand, the bars have access to every sport channel in the world

If you fancy playing some sport too, you can, because they have a pool table inside that’s free to play.

It’s open from 09:30 to 00:30 seven days a week. Making it the best sports bar in Chiang Rai for breakfast.

Here’s a link to the exact location on Google Maps.

Three Back-up Sports Bars in Chiang Rai

In case you don’t want to go to one of the most popular sports bars in Chiang Rai, here are three smaller bars that also show live sport.

Swansong Bar – A great atmosphere

Next up on the list of the best sports bars in Chiang Rai is Swansong Bar. A great little back-street bar, just around the corner from O’Kanes.

The owners, Jason and Nim, are great hosts, make you feel very welcome and accommodate your sports-watching needs when possible. There is only one big screen so if there’s a clash it’s a scrap to see who gets to watch what they want.

If your chosen game isn’t on, you can play on the free pool table or just walk around the corner to O’Kanes as they have loads of screens.

Cat Bar – A simple bar with a couple of TVs

Cat Bar is a classic Thai bar in the heart of Chiang Rai.

It’s a simple bar with a couple of TVs inside, showing whatever the customers ask for. There’s a pool table inside too, which is of course free to play as long as you’re having a drink.

There’s no food available at this sports bar in Chiang Rai, it is all about the booze and the sport.

Here’s where you’ll find Cat Bar.

Rosebar – A girlie bar that shows live sport

If you want to be accompanied by a hareem of local ladies while watching the match, Rosebar is the sports bar in Chiang Rai for you.

There’s also a basic food menu, a pool table along with two TVs showing every kind of live sport that’s available.

Here’s a link to the location of Rosebar on Google Maps.
