1. SOHO Bar Phangan – My favourite sports bar on the island

It makes sense to start with my favourite: SOHO Bar. If you’re looking for a modern, hipster sports bar experience, SOHO Bar is the place to be. 

This is by far the biggest sports bar on the island. There are loads of HD screens spread over two floors, ensuring you won’t miss any action no matter where you sit. And as you’d expect from the biggest sports bar on the island, you can watch pretty much any sport you can think of. Along with the standard European football, especially the English Premier League, you can also watch all of the boxing, UFC and F1 events. It’s also the best place to watch Aussie sports like NRL and AFL.

If you’re looking for the best bar to watch the Euros, this is my recommendation. 

In addition to being able to watch loads of sport, you can play some too. There are pool tables and even shuffleboard tables for added entertainment.

It offers a range of craft beers, one of the best pints of Guinness on the island and good old Magners on tap. Before you get too excited about the the thought of sinking loads of fancy pints while watching the match, beware, they do come at quite a cost. 

Finally, what more do you need to add to the drinks and live sport? Food of course. This place has a huge modern menu that will feed you for hours if you plan a sports-watching binge. Burgers, pizzas, Mexican, Thai and even traditional roast dinners are available here,

2. Hub Sports Cafe – Right next to the pier

Located conveniently near the pier, Hub Sports Cafe Koh Phangan is an ideal spot to unwind and catch a game.

This isn’t a busy sports bar, so don’t go expecting a buzzing atmosphere. It deserves its place on my list because it has three screens that can show different sporting events. If they’re not showing what you want to watch you can simply ask a member of staff to put it on.

While it may not be the liveliest bar on the island, it’s a great spot to grab some food before getting a ferry from the pier. The menu is huge, and as it opens at 8 am, there are loads of breakfast options.

3. Out Back Bar & Restaurant – A laid-back vibe

If you prefer a chilled-out hippie vibe to watch the match in, Out Back Bar & Restaurant is an excellent choice. 

There’s only one big screen inside, but there are still plenty of seats with a great view of the action. The downside is that only one sporting event can be shown at once. That said, this is still a great option when looking for a sports bar in Koh Phangan. 

The food on offer here is top-notch. There are plenty of Western options but it’s all about the local Thai food here!

You can also enjoy a game of pool or darts while watching the sport on TV. It’s the perfect place to unwind and soak in the local atmosphere while watching the match.

4. Hooligan Sports Bar – A swanky place to watch the match

Last on my list (and deservedly so) is Hooligan Sports Bar. With a name like that, I was expecting a spit-and-sawdust kinda pub. I couldn’t be more wrong. If you prefer a more pretentious sports bar experience in Koh Phangan, head to Hooligan Sports Bar.

This bar offers swanky drinks and a high-end food menu, perfect for those who enjoy the finer things in life while watching the match. While it may not suit everyone’s taste, it’s worth a visit if you’re in the mood for a touch of luxury with your game.

It’s not my kind of bar, let alone a sports bar, but different strokes for different folks.
