Tenerife is a great place to watch football while on holiday. The English Premier League, SPL and European games are always on somewhere. But if you want to watch an important match you need to go to a proper sports pub, and luckily for you I spent two weeks finding the seven best sports bars in Tenerife. Enjoy!

Your guide to the best sports bars in Tenerife

Most bars on the island seem to show live football on TV, so if you’re not picky you’ll have no problem finding somewhere to watch a match.

If, however, you take your sports watching seriously and want to be sure that you have a good view of a big-screen TV and can choose from a wide selection of draught beer and snacks, you need to do your research.

Most importantly if you want to watch the Old Firm derby or an English Premier League Super Sunday you’ll want to know that they’ll be showing the game you want to watch. All the sports bars on my list will always be showing the big matches.

I’m splitting Tenerife’s best sports bars into locations so that you can choose one in the area you’re staying in. Let’s start with the most popular area, Playa de las Americas.

The Best Sports Bars in Playa de las Americas

As Playa de las Americas is the most popular area, it’s the best place to start. These are the best two sports bars to watch live football in Tenerife’s busy tourist area.

YOLO Sports Bar

YOLO Sports Bar is the first sports bar you should head to in Playa de las Americas. That’s because it has loads of screens both inside and outside. And the outside screens are always well covered so that even in the baking sun, you can easily watch sports on TV while topping up your tan.

It also has a decent food menu, especially for a snack to accompany your beer or cocktail, while watching the football on TV.

It’s not only the English Premier League and SPL that is on TV at this sports bar in Tenerife. If you want to watch some Formula 1 or relax watching a cricket test match, you’ll be able to. And it’s one of the best places to watch the six nations rugby. The atmosphere was great when I watched a match there.

Opening Times: 11:00 – 01:00

Address: C. Noelia Afonso Cabrera, 38660 Playa de la Américas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

Marshalls Sports & Entertainment Bar

Marshalls Sports & Entertainment Bar is a modern bar in the heart of Arona that deserves to be called one of the best places to watch football in Tenerife.

Set back along a busy street in Playa de las Americas, it is a great place to head to watch live sport on the island.

It’s not the biggest bar, so get there early if you want a seat at this sports pub. If you can grab a spot on the sunny terrace you can relax in the sun and watch the big screen outside.

Marshalls Sports Bar in Tenerife doesn’t have a big food menu. They have some snacks, but if you want something alongside your beer it’s more than likely to be one of their signature shots!

Opening Times: 09:00 – 02:00

Address: C. Noelia Afonso Cabrera, Nº 20, 38660 Playa de la Américas, Tenerife, Spain

The Best Sports Pubs in Los Cristianos

The next area is the very popular Los Cristianos. Here are the best sports bars in this part of the Island.

Spectators Sports Bar & Grill

I’m sticking my neck out to say that Spectators Sports Bar & Grill is the best sports bar in Tenerife

It’s a new sports bar in Tenerife, only opening in 2023, that’s decked out with great football memorabilia and it has a pool table too. So you can play a bit of sport while watching it on one of the many, many big screens dotted around.

The drinks prices are decent and as you’d expect from a ‘bar & grill they have a great food menu too. If you’re in or around Los Cristianos and want to watch some live football on TV, get yourself to Spectators, it’s the best place to watch English and Scottish football in Tenerife.

Opening Times: 16:00 to 00:00

Address: Av. Ámsterdam, 11, 38650 Arona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

Yolo Sports Bar – Los Cristianos

Just like its bigger brother over in Playa de las Americas, YOLO Sports Bar is one of the best places you can watch live football in Los Cristianos too.

This sports bar has a classy edge to it with its food and cocktails, but it still has the basics you need for a good sports pub in Tenerife. Including a guarantee of showing EPL and SPL games as a priority.

Opening Times: 11:30 – 01:00

Address: Av. Ámsterdam, 11, 38650 Arona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

The Best Sports Bars in Costa Adeje

Another popular area in Tenerife is Costa Adeje. Here are the best places to watch live sports in this part of Tenerife.

Kilcoyne’s Sports Bar

One of the best sports bars in Tenerife is Kilcoyne’s Sports Bar in Costa Adeje.

There’s always a friendly buzzing atmosphere, but my favourite thing about Kilcoyne’s Sports Bar in Tenerife is its sunny terrace. I love sitting outside, catching some sun while sipping on a cold pint and watching football on TV. All of those things are possible here.

Once the live sport has finished, the party starts. Live music is on every night, meaning that this sports bar in Tenerife is the full package for a whole day’s worth of entertainment in the Canaries.

Opening Times: 12:00 – 00:00

Address: Av. de España, 38660 Costa Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

The Toby Jug

It’s about time we added a classic British pub to this list of sports bars in Tenerife, and The Toby Jug in Costa Adeje is exactly that.

The decor is that of a traditional British pub and so is the food menu.

There is a big, sunny terrace out the front, with loads of TVs throughout the pub. It’s one of the biggest sports bars in Tenerife. The vibe is more of an older crowd and it seems to attract lots of ex-pats.

So if you’re after a lively sports bar full of tourists looking for a party while watching some football on TV, this might not be the one for you. If, though, you’re looking to relax in a classic British pub while watching some sport on TV, get yourself to The Toby Jug.

Opening Times: 12:00 – 01:00

Address: Av. Europa, 31, 38660 Costa Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

The Best Sports Bar near Playa del Vistas

If you’re staying near, or plan to spend the day down at this beautiful beach, there’s still a great sports bar for you too.

Blue Orange Lounge & Pool House Terrace

Blue Orange Lounge & Pool House Terrace in Playa del Vistas is one of the best places to play pool in Tenerife. Not only do they have loads of pool tables, but they also show live sports on the many TVs dotted around the bar.

Opening Times: 17:00 – 02:00

Address: C. Ramona Martin Artista, 13, 38650 Arona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

So there you have it, my list of the best places to watch live football in Tenerife. As I said earlier, you’ll find loads of other sports bars in Tenerife, as a football-loving tourist you’re really in heaven here. But if you want to visit one of the best ones on the island, check out one of the bars on my list.

Want some accommodation tips?

If you’re on the lookout for some tips about where to stay in Tenerife, allow me to give you my three budget-based recommendations.

1 – Five Star Fancy Pants

If you’re feeling lavish then check out Hotel Cleopatra Palace. Rooms are usually over £200 per night, which I know is high, but hear me out. If you’re after something extra special and can afford it, you won’t regret treating yourself.

2 – Above Average Joe

If you prefer to place yourself in the high to middle range you should head to Hotel Parque La Paz. This place comes over £100 per night but it offers a high level of luxury compared to most places in Tenerife.

3 – That’ll do nicely

If you’re like most of the travellers in Tenerife, you want something clean, with a pool and located near the beach. For that, I give you Sol Arona Tenerife. Rooms are often available from around £70 per night. I think they’re the best of a big bunch around this price.

I’m not really a stickman, but it seems that I like portraying myself as one.

I’m an English guy who’s been travelling since 2017. I was never good at taking photos, sketching just seems to work better for me, and in my opinion, why do you want to see other people’s 4K videos and pictures of the world? Surely it’s better to see it for yourself. You can get in touch through the contact page or Instagram.

I look forward to hearing from you.
