The Ultimate Guide to Sports Bars in Kanchanaburi

Usually, I start with a short guide to the best places to watch sport on your travels, but as there are only three sports pubs in town, we might as well just jump straight into the full guide. So here are the three best sports bars in Kanchanaburi to watch the match.

The Tavern Bar – The Best Sports Bar in Town

First up on my list of where to watch the match is my personal favourite, The Tavern Bar. Located in the heart of Kanchanaburi, where all of the sports bars in town are, you’ll find this British/Aussie-themed sports bar. 

There are two screens inside that show live sport all day long. Like most sports bars in Thailand, this one has access to every sports channel going. Meaning that every EPL, NRL, and AFL game can be shown.

They can show F1 races, boxing and UFC, rugby and anything else you care to watch. As there are only two TVs there’s obviously a limit to how much they can show at once, but if what you want to watch isn’t on, just ask and they’ll put it on if they can

Along with the live sport, this bar keeps its Aussie/British vibe going with its food menu. If you feeling homesick for some good grub the food here will sort you out. The sausage, mash and gravy is my favourite, but everything I’ve seen come out of the kitchen looks delicious.

The beer’s cold and cheap too. Which is probably one of the most important things we’re all looking for.

Aussie Rules Bar – Watch and Play

Don’t let the name fool you, you can watch all kinds of sports here. The English Premier League is just as popular as NRL and AFL games at this sports bar.

If you like your bars casual to the point of it doubling up as the owner’s living room you’ll be happy here. There’s also a pool table inside so you can play some sport while watching it on TV.

Another bonus is the opening hours. It’s open pretty much all day, so there’s a great chance they’ll be showing the sport you want to watch no matter where in the world it’s happening.

Bojangles Bar & Grill – Food, Live Sport & Darts

Last up on the list of the best sports bars in Kanchanaburi is Bojangles Bar & Grill. I know that makes it sound fancier than the other two bars, but it’s not. It dos have flags on the walls and ceiling for most English Premier League football teams, but the rest is similar to the others. 

They do, though, have the best food menu of any sports bar in Kanchanaburi. It’s huge. So if you like to devour a feast while watching the match get yourself to Bojangles. It’s the only place offering a traditional breakfast to accompany the live sport.

If you fancy throwing a few arrows while watching the match this is the place. There’s a dartboard inside so you can keep an eye on the match while playing a game yourself.

I don’t know their opening times. It was open every time I walked past it on my visit and Google says it’s open 24/7.

A Bonus Sports Bar – 19th Hole Kanchanaburi

I’ve added this bar to the end because it was only just opening when I was there and it wasn’t showing live sport at that time. The owner did tell me though that they were planning to get some TVs in soon, so it’s worth checking out, especially as it’s only a few yards away from the others.

Expat golfers were already loving it there so if you want to arrange a game of golf while travelling through Kanchanaburi, 19th Hole is the sports bar for you.

And that concludes our list of the best sports bars in Kanchanaburi. Don’t expect any shiny modern sports bars like those in Bangkok and Pattaya, it’s old, traditional and Thai all over this town, so enjoy the charm while you’re there.
